Upcoming appointment with Endo ...
Jun. 9th, 2007   7:07pm
Hi Everyone,

I am getting ready for my first appointment with an Endocrinologist. I am a 20 yr old female and since April I started to have these strange symptoms - night sweats and hot flashes, excessive thirst, excessively oily hair and skin, acne, excess facial hair/also on chest, stomach, back, legs (it has darkened and thickened), and I have not had a period since early April.

I went to my GYN and she immediately tested me for PCOS - I had blood taken and an ultrasound. My results came back with very high DHEA-Sulfate levels. She told me to go see and Endocrinologist.

It seems to me that I could very well came LOCAH. I was wondering if some of you could share your experiences with Endos and medication. My main thing is that I am tortured by these symptoms - the hirsutism and the acne. How long does it take to get some medication to help you? I am worried that I will have to get tests, then wait 3 months for another appointment, etc.

Does anyone have any recommendations/suggestions on things I should bring up with my Endo? I am going to ask him about Spironoalctone, as I think it would help alleviate the symptoms I am enduring.

Thanks in advance to anyone out there who responds :)

Chelsea
