need help with perimenopause and pcos, with possible LOCAH Jul. 8th, 2007 7:14am
Hi, I have posted here many times before because I have a 16 year old daughter with LOCAH, and another 16 year old daughter with PCOS. I myself have always had PCOS, but now in the last few years i have had alot of stress, and ended up with panic attacks, and taking meds for that, i was taking celexa, clonazepam, and seroquel. I am now down to just clonazepam which if anyone doesn't know is a benzo. It's like valium. BTw, I am 48 years old. any way, I went to see an endo to see if some of my anxiety, and panic attacks, and lack of sleep etc could be related to perimenopause. she decided to check me for LOCAH, she did some lab work which i am waiting for the results, I know one is the 17ohp, and cortisol, and checking thyroid etc. She also did a beta hCG to make sure I wasn't pregnant because i thought i had started an early period, but am just spotting , all of my pregnancies have had spotting. My HCG level came out an 1, with below 5 as being negative. So I guess it's negative, although one time I had a hcg of 2, an dended up with an ectopic pregnancy. I don't really know when I might have ovulated, does any one think i need to retest for pregnency, or is that prety sure a negative. So any way, the endo wants me to take dexamethasone at 11:00pm., and then go to the lab at 8:00AM fasting to see if my 17ohp goes up from the baseline. My daughters stim tests were very different they did the ACTH stim test. Has any one had the kind I'm talking about. If any one can give me any insight it wold be great. I also have always had extra facial an dbody hair, used to have irregular periods til I was in my late 30's, I have extra weight around my middle, and now these pasrt few years have been losing more hair on my head. I must sem like a mess, but if any one has a similar situation I'd appreciate the help. thanks,
