My last message was cut off, so i am posting the complete message again:)
I have gotten blood tests results back from my endo. Have been on 0.25 mg of dexamethasone for about 8 weeks now. The Androgens have sunk lower....which is great, but there are some values I had questions about and am hoping that some of you might be able to give me some feedback.
Most current values while on dex for 8 weeks:
Testosterone: 25 (20-60)
SHGB: 66 (16-120)
Free Testosterone: 3 (3.0-10)
DHEA-S: 131 (100-300)
17a-OH Progesteron: 0.7 (0.3-0.8 ) Follicular phase
Cortisol 4 (6-23)
CBG: 890 (770-2900)
Free Cortisol: 1.4 (4-18)
My old values before late-onset CAH diagnosis
Testosterone: 36 (20-60)
SHBG 70 (16-120)
freies Testo cal. 4 (3.0-10)
DHEA-S 321 (100-300)
17-a-OH-Prog: 3.1 (0.5-2.6) (Lutealphase)
Now why is it that my cortisone is way low? Should it not be higher when i am taking cortison or are they just measuring my own produced cortisol? the 17aOH Progesterone still some on the higher end of normal. Does it take a while for it too go lower?...i just been reduced to 01.25 mg due to some side effects i was having, which have subsided now. Since i will be taking a lower dosage i am fearing that the 17aOH value might go up again:(....whaaaaaa. *fingers crossed it doesnt*.
Do your endocrinologists also check blood values for the female hormones. My endo just did at my first visit. Can't cortison and changes in my male hormones also have ANY effect on the female hormones?
my hair loss seemed to have worsened a bit since on dexamethasone. Is that normal at first when taking a cortison product due to hormones changes?
Thanks!
