re: help I feel clueless

Hi Trisha, well you found the right place! Read on, you will learn lots about CAH from others experiences.

My daughter and I both have nonclassic cah. We dose usuing the circadian rythm. Meaning we take the bulk of our dose in the very early a.m, and we dose 3 times a day. Take nothing before bed.

Anyway my first suggestion would be to have the doc okay splitting her dose into 3 doses, you should then be able to lower her dose because 40mg of Cortef is a LOT, even for a saltwasting child. High doses can cause bone loss and actually stunt her growth.

You will need to get copies of her last couple of lab results to see exactly what the doc is checking. One thing we have found is that many docs try to keep the 17 ohp within normal ranges.

Let us know what you find out, welcome to this board.

P.S, I didn't take Dex for pregnancy, but I used to take it for my CAH. Yes it can make you an emotional wreck :oP here's hoping you are having a boy and you can get off of it!

M1
