Natalie, Dex is short for Dexamethasone - one of the three main steroids that people with CAH take... the other two are hydrocortisone and prednisone. Dexamethasone is the longest acting of the three (and the strongest) - just taken once a day in most situations. Most children take hydrocortisone in three or more doses each day.
