I can't believe that the generic cortef would be so inefficient. Certainly the doctor is correct that if you are low on your dose then joint and muscular pains can happen, along with other things.
Not sure about your 'roof of the mouth' episode; although I get skin rashes if I am low on replacement so goodness knows!
