re: re: Are illnesses harder to get over with NCAH?
Aug. 9th, 2007   9:17am
Thank you for answering my questions. From what I remember her testosterone levels were good and her cortisol level was 18 or 20. I remember the md saying that she was the very lowest level which can be considered wnl's. Surprising since her 17ohp is not at all borderline. I think her endo thought she would be advancing by now and we would be treating. I also spoke to Carol Van Ryzin at NIH and she was also surprised that cortisol was wnl's and bone age was normal. I worry that if her body is working as hard as it is to  make cortisol that she may be having a more difficult time getting over illnesses and that may be why she gets high fevers when she is sick. There are times when she gets colds however and the fever is low grade so maybe it is just her and not the ncah. I will look into the pcos. I didn't know that that was worse in under or nontreated patients. I have to go now, but I would appreciate any further input. Thanks again.
Terri
