treatment's for late onset CAH, dex versus hydrocortizone Sep. 17th, 2007 4:13pm
I am 27 and was finally diagnosed with CAH about 3months ago after many years of suffering with symptoms that progressively got worse as the years went by. I am currently on .25mg of dexamethsone and find that it helps tremedously with headaches and nausea but am still struggling with the fatigue and high blood pressure. My mom and I have been researching treating with hydrocortizone versus dexamethsone. My doctor was willing to let me try the hydrocortizone but only giving it once @ night like the dex which made all my symptoms come back. From my understanding of what I have been reading is that the hydrocortizone needs to be given in small doses throughout the day and a higher dose @ night. I can't seem to get my doctor to understand this. Has anyone with late onset CAH been treated with the hydrocoritizone versus the dex and if so how did your symptoms change?
