Could it be Late Onset CAH? Advice from the "experts" needed. Sep. 21st, 2007 8:02am
I'll try to make this short and sweet. Since late stages of perimenopause, I have had problems with slightly elevated or high normal androgens. Cortisol has been high/high normal but is currently low normal. This has drastically affected my mood. In order to help my mood, docs are trying hormone replacement therapy..however, when estradiol is added in, I get an immediate "andrenergenic" response..feel like I'm on speed. We've tracked this hormonally and both my DHEAs AND my testosterone..especially free/unbound level increase. MRIs of adrenals/abdomen are "normal"..however, from gauging family history..there does seem to be an indication of androgen excess "disorders" on BOTH paternal/maternal sides of family..also blood sugar issues. Also have AI thyroid disease. Any advice welcome...also, good endo in Raleigh-Durham or 100 mile radius recommendation appreciated.
