I have had a ACTH stim test done and a cortisol stim test done. The difference that I understand is one test you get a shot of ACTH and the other test you get a shot of cortif (synthetic cortisol). My cortisol stim test is the one that finally diagnosed me. I'm not postive if I am understanding all the differences but will confirm with my doctor on the 4th at my appt. I hope this helps. Anna
