What the lab test shows is only your own cortisol production. So whatever leve it is at, you also have to add whatever you are taking mg(microliters whatever the cortisol is measured in). I would try to calculate what 0.5 mg dex is worth in cortisol and then add that to the level that was measured in your blood.

Dex is supposed to surpress some production of the adrenals but not all....again, i believe what was measured is what your own adrenals are currently putting out while on dex.
