Hi Stef,

I always suggest that it is a very good idea to get all of your children's results at each visit and compile them into a folder, so you can study them more closely when you have time. Start by asking your children's doctor for a copy of all the results. You could even be so bold as to ask for the results of when they were first diagnosed and then you will see the changes that have been happening. You will also learn the names of the hormones which are being tested.

Each test that is done has certain acceptable levels and these are either printed on the result sheet or your doctor will have in mind what is the best level/s for your child. It is also important to be aware that if you are comparing results with others on this board and other websites that you know which 'unit of measurement' is being used. For instance I think you may be from the UK. If so, then nmol/L will be used for the 17-OHP test, so ideally that number may sit somewhere between 10 and 30 nmol/L and Testosterone below 3 nmol/L is very good. There are other hormones tested for, but I would have to look them up for children's levels and I am too tired just now.

Do your children have Plasma Renin levels done?

Megan
