My 1st child had symptoms of LOCAH, underarm odor, pubic hair, pimples all at age 5. I was poo-pooed for 2 years and was finally taken seriously when she turned 7. I loved our pediatrician and she apologized profusely. However, there was no permanent damage to base a case. Then, 11 years later I found out 2 of my daughters were over treatment, making them take Florinef along with Cortef and treating them as salt wasters when they only had LOCAH for 11 years when they did not need it. My one daughter was taking 30mg of Cortef at age 14yrs when the highest adult dose is about 24mgs, gained 30lbs, stunted her growth. Both were on growth hormone injection which they did not need to be if they were not over dosed. I've been angry, however, I've come to realize that medicine is not an exact science. The docs did not deliberately deceive or neglect my children for their own benefit. The tread in Wisconsin was to over treat trying to keep the OH17 to around 100 in kids. I've never find an endo who would say this was total negligence and disregard of their medical oath. Our docs did what they thought was right at the time and I knew the docs were good people. Medicine is an art. Life is full of mistakes. My oldest daughter is the shortest in the family, but she is here!! She is a little heavy, but its her choice if & when she chooses to work hard to loose that weight. I hold on to a verse in Romans: All things work for the good for those who love the Lord. |
