re: re: On our way to NIH, stressed & depressed Oct. 27th, 2007 11:01pm
Hi Kat, I used to just take Zyrtec as needed. Then when I got sick a while back I tried taking Allegra D 24 (doc gave me some samples) I stayed awake for 2 nights, it gave me insomnia so can't take it. Then I went back on the Zyrtec, straight for about 3 months, then I started taking Claritin D. I did notice that my appetite went down and I didn't feel so tired on the Claritin D. I think being fatigued can cause depression in itself. It takes away the "want" to do anything. Only now I've gotten a cold or something. The Claritin didn't really work that well. So back to square one.
Anyway there is a website for people to post about their side effects with Zyrtec. Depression is one of them along with weight gain and urinary retention.
I think that those of us that are prone to bouts of depression may be easily triggered by certain meds.
