re: re: re: re: Alternative treatments for LOCAH????? Oct. 29th, 2007 8:58am
Hello, everyone! I'm Kare and new to this site...and almost evertything else this site is about. I've come to it in a rather unusal way and would like to join the discussion. So here's my story...workaholic/business owner 25 years...stress stress stress EXHAUSTED...just thought it was normal...no doctor ever told me anything different. Finally a doctor put me on 30 mgs. of Armour thyroid...felt remarkedly better. Then during an intense 6 month family matter around my Mother's death and her property, I fell serioustly ill and basically was horizontal for 3months, even during one vacation I just selpt constantly and also my hands stiffened up and hurt...diagnosis - RA (rhuematoid arthritis). Prescribed treatment METHATREXATE...tried it 3 X's...7 pills 1x per week...it's like a low dose chemo...the 3rd. dose did me in, very sick, I said NO MORE and found that I had to take prednisone for my hands to feel ok...at first I was taking alot but after a couple of months I began to play around with the dose and found that I can manage my pain with just 5 mgs. per day. NOW this is where CAH comes in...I am no longer exhausted! On the prednisone, in fact, I feel great! No too hyper at all just have energy for a change and my hands work. The RA doctor says it is superficial and the damage to my joints is still occuring...they feel fine to me. I have been concerned about long term use of 5mgs. daily of steroid and an alternative doctor has just told me that I probably do better with CORTIF...that it would be easier on my body but that he felt sure that I had adrenal exhaustion and that they ( the adrenals) could use some support and either Hydrocortisone(prednisone) or cortif would do the job... as well as lots of detoxing etc. DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANY INFO ON LONG TERM PREDNISONE OR MORE IMPORTANTLY CORTIF?What is it? Is it a pill and do I get it thru a prescription? How does it compare to prednisone? Long term effects of both? Has anyone else had RA with their CAH. It's strange how I came to this all but for the first time in decades I can function without being exhausted and I don't know if I'd give up my 5 mgs. even if I knew I had the chance of hurting myself...THANKS FOR LISTENING. I HOPE I CAN BE OF SOME HELP TO SOME OF YOU ALSO. KARE Also are most of you dealing with this just a adults? Is CAH really just adrenal exhaustion? What is hyperplasia? I think I've heard of hyperplasia cells with uterine or cervical pre cancerous cells??
