No, CAH is not just adrenal exhaustion, it is a genetic enzyme deficiency. The enzyme deficiency causes the body to not be able to produce cortisol efficiently. So the adrenals have to work overtime to produce enough cortisol, which leads to the hyperplasia (enlarged adrenal glands). As a byproduct, the body overproduces androgens (male hormones), so women with CAH have negative effects from that. The people on this board are mostly women with a milder form of CAH (Late Onset), but there are children born with a more serious form of CAH which can be life-threatening.
There actually HAS been a recent report about CAH and RA, but if you don't have excess androgens, then you don't have CAH. If you have adrenal exhaustion, then you should be able to recover and go off of prednisone, although it is probably helping your RA also.
