re: vitamin d deficiency, low bone mineral density...and LOCAH
Nov. 1st, 2007   1:32pm

Even though your calcium level is normal, if you have low vitamin D, then your body is not absorbing the calcium effectively, which could be the cause of your low bone density.  Although steroid treatment can cause this, in your case as you were not on treatment when diagnosed  this obviously is unconnected with your LOCAH.

A lot of people of slim build are osteopenic and never know it (they rarely screen people pre menopause), but at least you are aware of the situation and now have the chance to build your bone density back up (with supplements and diet) to prevent osteoporosis in later life.  I was diagnosed with osteoporosis in my mid 30's and now 10 year later my bone density is just about  in the normal range, so I am sure in time yours will be too!
