re: re: re: vitamin d deficiency, low bone mineral density...and LOCAH

You can register for free at NEJM and then you can read some articles after they are 6 mo. old. The article is too long for me to cut and paste it here.

My daughter has always had a tendency to be anemic, which is what iron and ferritin levels are checked for. It seems like I have read that, too, that there is an association between LOCAH and anemia. As long as she takes an iron supplement, she is fine, but if she stops it, she gets anemic. This has no association with heavy menstrual flow; she's had this all her life.

The endo wasn't concerned about her vitamin D level since it was only slightly low; I plan to get it rechecked though to keep an eye on it. She is only taking a multivitamin with iron.

I don't know of any reason why low iron and vitamin D would cause hair loss, but you never know. These things all seem to be interconnected.

Kat
