I just got a call from my REndo. Prior to this call, I was under the suspicion I had PCOS based on my LH/FSH ratio. I went in for additional bloodwork with the endo and just found out that my 17OH Levels were above 200 which could be an indication for CAH. All of the literature available on the Internet is way too scientific and doesn't give me the information I'm craving. I felt like my Dr. was too rushed earlier, so I didn't ask her anything mainly b/c I was upset and scared.
My husband and I have been TTC for only 7 months or so, but my gyno wanted some tests taken just to make sure everything was OK - that's when she discovered the LH levels, and that's when this all began.
So, I keep reading that the 17OH version is worse than the others. What are my chances of conceiving at all? Everything I've been reading is very disheartening. I don't even know what the symptoms would be. I keep reading about sex organs not being fully developed, etc. Everything developed the way it should have w/ me, and with the exception of irregular periods, I have no other symptoms whatsoever. Are there different variations? More severe levels? The only treatment is Prednisone (Sp)? Won't that cause extensive weight gain?
God, I just feel so lost right now. And scared to death.
