Going off steroids...withdrawal symptoms?
Mar. 11th, 2008   6:35pm
I've been taking 0.25 mg of dex since August.  My docs want to take me off of it because I'm 20 weeks pregnant with a boy.  Staying on it could suppress the baby's adrenals and cause immunosuppression in him after birth.  And since it's a boy we don't need to worry about virizilation.  They don't want to do prednisone because of the immunosuppression to me since I'm a nurse and exposed to nasty stuff constantly (I just got out of the hospital today with a nasty viral thing that was affecting the baby and I've not been sick in years).  So basically they want to see how I can tolerate being off the steriods until after my son is born.  Anyway, I take a very low dose 0.25mg, but understand I am still facing some unpleasantness.  Anyone else on a similar low dose and have stories to share on their withdrawal process and side effects?  Just trying to prepare myself.  I've only ever dealt with people who take much higher doses.
Julie
