re: re: re: Another way to test for LOCAH?

My daughter is 5'1/2" and weighs 99 lbs. She lost 10 lbs about a yr ago over the summer, but has been trying and has gained back about 5 lbs. Her blood sugar is normal.

What is megestrerol acetate and what is it used for?

As far as when the tests are done, really try to do it in the morning. 17ohp levels drop during the day. They also rise with ovulation, so the levels will be falsely high after ovulation.

What does your dr say about the low electrolytes? I'm not familiar with what that means; my daughter has never had magnesium or phosphorus checked. Have you had a test that showed high androgens, or is it just that you have the bad acne?

On the PCOS boards, have you come across anyone else who is thin, not insulin resistant, and has PCOS? Also anyone who has elevated 17 ohp? My daughter's gyno told me that you can have elevated 17 ohp with PCOS, but I've never been able to find out how high would be typical of PCOS. But, like you, I have a really hard time believing that she has PCOS anyway. Let us know how the tests turn out.

Kat
