My morning cortisols were always "normal". The doctor just did the ACTH stim test and found it. I also have a thyroid problem and am HGH deficient, so it is more a pituitary thing. I feel that even being a carrier can cause symptoms.
My daughter, who is from a different father than my SWCAH son also has very low cortisol levels and chronic fatigue. She is 14. We are going to a new endocrionologist for her the beginning of April. Our family physician put her on a low amount of cortef, but the AM cortisols are still low, so she is wanting to up the dose. I am checking with an endocrinologist. The key is to find a doctor willing to listen to you. I have talked until I am blue in the face for years and years and have been sent to a psychiatrist and told my illness is all in my head.
I happened to find a doctor who was willing to order 30 tubes of blood on both of us- she checked everything. It gave me incredible information. Everyone should be able to have that kind of testing done. I was so sick of getting a TSH and metabolic panel and being sent on my way.
As a salt waster, do you feel that emotional stress is really hard on you? I can't get doctors to admit that severe emotional stress can cause a problem, but It does for me. My father just passed away after a long illness. Emotionally I am ok, but physically I am just absolutely wiped out.......
