I too have found all of this very fascinating! You are right to consider this as a possiblity. The doctor who wrote the book says that fibromyalgia and CFS are VERY often can actually be biotoxin illness. Although the book focuses on mold as the major biotoxin culprit, but it can include chemicals and other fungi as well. Something I also found very surprising was that almost all homes/buildings have mold. Even if you can't smell it. Flooded basements, water spills, leaks inside the walls that you can't even see. New construction also can have mold.
