re: Getting doctors to prescribe steriods Apr. 18th, 2008 1:40pm
Hi Louise. You're going through somewhat the reverse situation of where I'm at right now. I've only been to this site once before, and was "happy" to find someone else going through the same dilemma. I have been wondering if my medicine has been causing things to get worse or not.
I had been diagnosed and started on dexamethasone briefly, in the midst of visiting fertility expert...then stopped on it a few months into the pregnancy. I thought I recalled after giving birth, both expert and endo said there was no need to go back on the medicine. A few years later when complaining of being tired and some minor weight gain, etc., it was decided to go back on it by endo. However, now about 4 years later after being on it, I am struggling with record-high weight gain and I say not much worse change in my diet habits (no exercise either). Now, I also just noticed a few purply marks on upper legs said by dr to be stretch marks. Often VERY tired. Feeling frustrated and others comment, irritable. Supposedly the dose of this dexamethasone is not "strong" enough to be causing the so called side effects. It has been said that there are reasons to stay on the dex, and I could be heavier if I were not on it. I don't know what to think. I am about thirty pounds heavier than my "normal" heavy. I hope this helps you. I am also curious about the pros and cons.
