Hi Denise,
I am wondering what units of measurement were used for the testosterone, the DHEA-s and 17-ohp? (Units of measurement are the little words/codes after the numbers).
If your testo level was measured for instance, in nmol/L then 8 is very high for a female. If DHEA-s were measured in umol/L then that also is high. The 17-ohp if measured in nmol/L is almost normal; however if measured in ng/ml then 5.8 would be high enough as a baseline reading to diagnose LOCAH.
Did your doctor measure androstenedione? I can't remember whether you mentioned if you had an ACTH stimulation (Synacthen/Cortrosyn) test done? That is where they take baseline readings of those hormones then give you an injection of synthetic ACTH to see how the adrenal gland responds.
Certainly anxiety is known to be a symptom of untreated CAH. However it would be wise to establish yourself on your CAH medication first, if that is what you will be taking, before changing or stopping your anxiety meds. Revisit that subject sometime in the near future.
As for the weight! It can be an ongoing dilemma. Some people find that once they start taking the steroids and their body gets back into more balance then the weight gain, slows or even reverses. Assuming that your doctor doesn't put you on too high a dose then hopefully you won't pile on more weight.
