Low potassium
Apr. 22nd, 2008   4:24am

Hi M1,

I was talking to my cousin who is an awesome nurse (practically runs the smallish town hospital where she works, as well as, the ICU) when your message came in. I told her about your potassium level. She said; "Too low. I like potassium to be no lower than 3.8nmol/L". She said: take a couple of potassium tablets and eat two bananas otherwise, you'll start to feel fatigued and awful". So there you go from an expert...and she is - lots of experience and common sense!

The GFR means Glomerular Filtration Rate which has to do with Kidney function. Were they testing your Creatinine at the same time? How were the Creatinines? Probably worth keeping an eye on.

Haven't explored it, but this looks like a good site. They have a comment about eGFR's also. http://www.kidney.org.au/ Go to quick links on the right hand side and you'll see an eGFR calculator.

Megan
