started myself on dex- crazy?
Apr. 22nd, 2008   1:31pm

As you know I was diagnosed very late in life.  I was finally put on .05mg of Dex w/ Metformin last fall and never felt better.  Still suffered with fatigue, but my weight was melting off!!  Then I went to NIH for testing and they had me go off Dex for a few days for tests and suggested I go off Dex because of side effect such as osteoporosis and diabetes (I'm prediabetic).  Well, since I've been off I'm feeling yucky. oily skin again, zits on my neck, face and chest; lethargic; gaining weight; black & white hair growing on my face rapidly and I can barely get out of bed in the morn.   I do not like my endo and my insurance will only pay for the 3 in this one office and he happens to agree with NIH.  Happily, he is leaving that practice in June and I have made an appointment with a different one.  However, in the mean time, I do not want to waint.

Therefore, I have a prescription for Dex through Septemeber and I started myself back on Dex several weeks ago.  I am feeling better already.  The hair, acne and oily skin haven't gone away, but at least I can get out of bed in the morning and take care of the my kids.  Overall I am feeling better, like me!

Do you think I'm wrong for take Dex without a direct order from a doc?

natalie
