Andrea,

The only instance I know of where the patient has to wear a medic bracelet is if they are continually taking Dex or some other type of cortisol treatment for the long term. The bracelet is worn in order to alert medical personnel in case of possible complications from medication withdrawal or in the event the patient is in an accident, comes down with a severe infection or faces another stressful event whereby an increase in the amount of cortisol given will most likely be necessary.  However, now that I think about it, when I was prescribed Dex last year I was never instructed to wear a bracelet by my doctor.
