Dear Hair Bear,

It's good that you are a nurse.

It's good that you have an obgyn that is ruling out what this bleeding may or may not be.

May I ask what hormones she has prescribed for you?

It's sad that you aren't able to discuss other options/ paths to finding out the cause of bleeding or maybe she is trying to give you hormones first and then go from there. Medicine isn't perfect and one has to speak up to inform the doctor and nurses - In otherwords - one has to be the center of their health care plan and a simply why aren't you doing this or that keeps communication open.

I wouldn't start taking iron pills without consulting with a doctor to monitor the blood work first to establish a base line.

To much iron isn't a good thing either and you need to find out why the bleeding is happening in the first place too.

Scratching head here but basic blood work panel is standard and I gather one thing about being a nurse is to advocate/communicate for patients and yourself as a patient if you don't think the doctor is on the same page for your medical treatment.

Ok, you do have an Endo. May I ask which city or part of South Florida this endo is from?

I was born with Simple- Virilizing CAH (diagnosed at birth) and it isn't out of the ordinary for an Endo to adjust medication to best suit your needs by the blood work numbers.  Endos run on baselines and bloodwork.

Think along the same lines of how thyroid medication gets adjusted to find the right dose and that can change with the blood work too.

I gather from this post that you've had blood loss for 9 weeks? over 2 months then.  It could be anemia and depression could be a 2nd medical issue with over surpression being a 3rd issue.

Anemia is something a general practioner treats as well.

What did the gyno say when you asked about anemia?

What are the names of the Endos on your insurance plan?

All the county hospitals have great endos on staff privilages in the part of SoFlo that I know about.

Some might have better personalities but they are all familair with CAH and you could call the hospitals as they all have doctor referal numbers.

take care.

SoFloAtlantic confused here
