First off when doctors know you're a nurse and a patient, there seems to be some sort of pride battle... I swear. I've actually had a doc tell me "I don't wanna hear your attempt at getting me to test for your self diagnosis."
Second of all my gyn prescribed me aygesterin. Didn't work. Doubled it at second visit telling me to call her if bleeding didn't stop in 4 days, then in 4 days she had went on vacation. Covering doctor was busy handling his deliveries and hers. finally he agreed to see me and switched me to yasmin. Didn't work so when she came back she told me to switch to loesterin but take it every six hours instead of daily and to call her when the bleeding stops cuz she can't do any tests until then..... when i see her again, I fully plan on advocating and am just working on not being rude about it.
Third, called GP and they couldn't get me in for a month, so they made me the appt and referred me to ER. Was trying to hold out for doc appts cuz i didn't believe the er would do anything except same labs and ultrasound doc would do.
Fourth, been calling endo who swears it's got nothing to do with her or dex. Went to her for pcos in the first place before I knew i had cah, so I don't know how she can think its got nothing to do with her. But she just keeps telling me to go to obgyn. I asked her to do labs, pcos hormone labs. Bf even argued with her on the phone. She got pissed and now isn't calling back if I call the office... says she'll see me june 18th. Also, my issue isn't that she changed med dose based on labs... I know that's how it works as i'm part of that system in the hospital i work in. I just don't see why she didn't run pcos related labs in addition to the basic testosterone and dhea and testosterone. How can you treat part of the problem?? And I had to be very persistant to get those ordered. She's never treated anyone with CAH before.
Got tired of the run around and pain and bleeding got heavier yesterday (had died down some with the birth control every six hours) so I went to ER. They did basic CBC and chem8 and a pelvic ultrasound. Said no emergency so sent me out with referral to my obgyn.
Have made appts to switch doctors but as we discussed, doctors book far in advance. Meanwhile..... I bleed. Had been looking for docs who have dealt with CAH before but so far I found one... who doesn't take my insurance and refuses to run labs outside his office, so I'd have to do cash for it all.
It's not that I'm not trying............
