This is my first post as I am new to the board. I did read through most of the posts here and still have some questions.
My background: I was diagnosed at 16 with LOCAH and am 27 now. I was diagnosed b/c of early puberty with no period, heavy hair growth, and weight. I'm 5'8" and have been since age 10 and weigh 240lbs. I did not continue the meds I was prescribed b/c of college and lack of understanding of my condition and went on BC pills when I was 21 which gave me regular periods, when I went off and no period came I went to see an endocrinologist who put me on dex and metformin. I have trouble remembering to take the pills and see no improvement from them.
I'm now married and would like to have children, but have told NO ONE about my problem including my husband. We have a genetic counseling appointment next week and am mortified for him to understand my condition better. I'm wondering if anyone can share any information on how to talk about this with your spouse, the best method for weightloss, long term effects on these meds, what to expect at the genetic counseling appointment, and chances of having healthy children/becoming pregnant.
