Welcome Jaylynn!

Two things!

Yes it is important that you don't keep this a secret from your husband. It may not be easy to tell him but I'm sure you'll manage. Is he aware of anything being wrong at all, such as your extra hair growth, or are you very good at hiding it?? Does he wonder why you are going for genetic counselling?

It's very unlikely (in your case) you would be able to get pregnant without meds. CAH is on a continuum of severity. You have late onset CAH also called non-classical CAH which is less severe than classical....however even late onset people have degrees of severity and yours sound like you are quite affected. Firstly you need medications such as Dexamethasone or one of the corticosteroids to correct/lower your hormone levels which will also help to establish your menstrual cycle.

Somehow you will need to develop a routine to take your medication regularly. I'm sure you will find the motivation to take your meds regularly when you know it will mean the difference between giving yourself a chance to have a baby or not.

Learn as much as you can so that you can be your own advocate. I wish you well for your genetics appointment.

Megan
