There has always been a lot of controversy regarding birth control pills. I've done tons of research and I have a dear friend who wrote a book about hormones. Medically & scientifically I do not totally understand how BCP's helped my condition but I am grateful it has. Also, my oldest daughter, when she started her period at age 14 she immediately started suffering from PCOS (she also has LOCAH). My poor sweetie was in such EXTREME pain from her ovarian cysts that we had to rush her to the hospital twice. All the scans showed ruptured cysts. Besides doping her up with pain relievers and Cortef (to help her body cope with the physical trauma of the cysts & rupturing), the only thing we discovered to help her was to stop the cysts from forming. BCP's stops ovulation, thus stops the cysts. I hated to put her on the pill, but for 4years she is not in extreme pain every month. Plus, this particular BCP (Yasmin) has an anti-androgen agent which helps her LOCAH by reducing her intake of steriods.
