My 6 year old daughter has been taking Cortef up until about 6 months ago and they switched her to the generic. I also had to learn to break them with my fingers. I haven't found any difference in her at all. I asked her endocrine doctor about if it was ok for the switch due to insurance and if it would have any side effects I should know about and she said that it would be ok to take and should have no side-effects.
