After-birth experiences
Jan. 20th, 2008   10:52am
I am currently pregnant with a daughter who was diagnosed last week with SWCAH. I will be induced in 2 1/2- 3 1/2 weeks. I have many, many questions as this is all so new to me and my family (my husband and I are both carriers, but neither of us, nor anyone in either of our families had ever heard of this disorder previously).

I am interested in knowing how long children typically need to stay in the hospital after birth to stabilize their condition. Any personal experiences with this?

Also, I really want to breast feed. How feasible is this? I'm wondering about what form medication for infants comes in--how do we give medication and salt supplements? Is that something that can be done in conjunction with breast feeding, or does it really require a bottle?

Thanks for any insights anyone can offer.

Jennifer
