Thanks Jennifer for your reply. You are indeed lucky that the CAH has been picked up before birth, I have never heard of this happening before unless of course the parents already have a CAH child. You will be prepared physically and mentally now rather than the shock shortly after your child is born, you will have educated yourself as much as you can, and you will have the medical personnel ready to start treatment as soon as possible after the birth. I have an 8 year old SWCAH daughter and apart from a few hospital visits in the first 4 years of her life (mainly with a vomitting bug), she has led a relatively "normal" life. We treat her the same as her non CAH sisters, however we do keep an extra close eye on her when she is looking and feeling unwell and administer extra meds when necessary.
