Dear Lynn,

I feel for your son and what he's going through--and what he has gone through with CAH in the past. I do pray for him and think of you often, although I don't often write. When I was teaching there was a boy at my school who dove into a pool during summer vacation--there was little water in the pool and he was paralyzed. It effected mostly his speech and one side of his body. Everyone at the school was shocked and did everything that they could to help the family and the boy. This was about 10 years ago. You should see him now, he is 17 and so tall. He comes to school everyday, is trying to grow facial hair, has acne and even dyed his hair at one point--all normal teenage stuff. He struggled in the beginning with not being able to keep saliva in his mouth, depression, extreme frustration with expressing himself orally, and with so many other things, but now he is happy, has friends, and plenty of interests. I pray that the same will happen with Ryan. This has to be the hardest thing. My best thoughts, good vibes, and prayers are with you.
