re: re: Educational Scholarship Opportunities

While I agree that CAH may be no big deal to some of you there are some children that are on the extreme end of the spectrum and a simple heat wave can send them into an adrenal crisis.  I have noticed over the years on this board that there is no one person with CAH that has the EXACT same symptoms nor do they take the same doses.  Please keep in mind that when you choose to criticise people without knowing their life experinces and make blind statements to a simple question it is of no help to anyone.  After all, isn't that why we all come here?

My girlfriend, whose son is "normal" and going to college next year was told by all the colleges they researched that they should search the internet and see if any scholarships fit their son and make application.  They told her that every year there are millions of dollars in scholarships that go unused due to lack of applications and knowledge of funds available.

I think that you need to know that sometimes people who lose children to rare diseases or disorders or are well off financially and are compassionate to the trials and tribulations of others set up college scholarship funds for children in the same or similar circumstances.

Corporations also get together and set funding aside to send people with certain criteria to college.  My company paid for me to go to college at night while I worked full time during the day as long as I kept an A - B average.  At the time, I would not have been able to afford it on my own.  It was hard work but well worth it.  I stayed with the company for 15 years and worked my way up through the company.

I know of one family who set up a scholarship fund in their child's name and no one applied.  It was rather anticlimatic for the family.  They began to advertise the availability and found someone who fit their criteria.  In their child's name they helped to send that child to college and make something good come out of a tragedy. They will be renewing the scholarship this year as well.   A win-win for all involved.

Everything isn't just black and white.

Please be kind to each other......life is too short.J
