re: I know smoking is bad..... Feb. 2nd, 2008 7:34am
I imagine if your levels are not good, emotionally this would be hard on you to quit. PLUS the doctors told my mom, and this is a fact, cigarrette smoking is as addictive as cocaine. It is a medical fact. So just quitting cold turkey, your body probably would have a harder time because there is a lot of stress the body goes through when you withdraw from nicotine. I hope you do find a way to quit though. On a personal note, I am watching my mother suffer horribly in her final stages of emphesyma. It has been literal hell to watch her struggle for a breath. She has been on oxygen for years and heavy steriods that have blown her body up. Right now a simple cold can kill her. I can not put in words how horrific it has been to watch her suffer. So please, if you can find a way to beat this do. I wonder if you would stress dose the first two days of withdraw. I hope others post that have CAH and have gone through this. A friend of mine went through withdraw of nicotine and he had a rough time physically. Pale, dizzy, shaky. I can imagine some with CAH it would be more difficult. Ask your endocrinologist. There has got to be some way you can do this. Even if it was through a short hospital stay as you withdraw. Good luck Nessie!
