The pill does help
Feb. 2nd, 2008   6:27pm

Hiya,

I'm 18 and am on the pill...for a number of reasons. What I've noticed now is that my period is so much lighter but at the cost of bleeding for an extra day.

My Endo actually offered putting me on it when I was 13 because he was unsure of how "regular" I would be due to CAH and haywire hormones, but I've been regular like clockwork from the get-go (at age 13).

There are two specific forms of the pill that actually 'help' with CAH. They are Brenda and Diane....they have anti-androgens in them so they help to keep some of the testosterone and adrogen levels in-check....So it is a bit of a bonus! However, I will pass on the information that my Endo relayed to me "if you fall pregnant while on either, its not good - if its a male; its something to do with de-masculinization"

Being 16 and on the pill sounds scary. People automatically assume that you're using it for one particular reason. But I found that at 17 (when I started on it) I was one of the last of my huge group of friends to go on it....and my main reasoning was because I am severly anemic and am really sick of passing out all the time - esp in the week after I've just finished my period.

I hope some of this helped.

Take Care

Annalise
