I do respect your post. Please know that. You are right to warn about surgeons out there. But please know that not ALL surgeons are horrific. Searching for the best one is essential. That I can agree on. When I made my choice for my daughter, I didn't have this board to bounce things off of. They provided a surgeon and I went with it because that is what the doctors told me. Like I am sure your parents did with many others. CAH is a foreign land when you first have your child diagnosed. It is frightening. So I will agree 100 percent that don't take the first surgeon thrown at you. Because you don't know what they have done in the past. Of course that goes for ANY surgery. But especially this one because your child is involved. I know you are wanting to scream to every new parent to NOT have surgery because of what you have gone through. But do know there are other stories out there that do have happy endings. Just think if you shared your feelings about not feeling that surgery is the right path to take, and then added "please be sure to research this and research every surgeon you choose if you do choose to go forth with surgery, because this is what happened to me" think of how much more powerful your statement would be. Maybe some don't need that surgery because they are low on the prader scale. Who knows the situation because each patient that has CAH has different forms of CAH, and their genitals are effected differently than others. But let them make that choice. Let them hear other stories, positive and negative ones. And let THEM weigh their choices. We are not to say if someone is right or wrong in any choices they make. We just aren't. Peace.
