re: re: Hard time dealing with baby's CAH Feb. 3rd, 2008 5:44pm
Hi Carly, I know exactly how you feel, my baby girl was born 3 months ago with SWCAH and I feel like my heart has been broken. We had never heard of CAH and its overwhelming to say the least. I am frightened about things like genital surgery,( she has no vaginal opening its completly fused over) and I am worried she might feel 'different' or the odd one out when she is older. But saying that we have a wonderful endo who is very reassuring and great support from family and friends. Our daughter is thriving and even made her first chuckle the other day. Being a first time parent is really hard work (we also have a 2 yr old son) things like sleep deprivation, that foggy baby brain and a crying baby can really get you down without the trauma of blood tests and seemingly endless doctors visits thrown in. My daughter really seems to have turned a corner in the last couple of weeks and everything seems to be settling down and were getting a bit more adjusted, I really hope this happens for you too. Everyone keeps on reassuring me that it gets better and Im starting to believe them. This board is really great for info and someone to talk to who understands. Ive come to the conclusion recently that my beautiful daughter was sent especially to my husband and I because whoever sorts these things out knew that we would be the best parents for her, we would love her and support her unconditionally through all this and most importantly we were chosen as her parents because we CAN deal with this . Im sure the same is true for you and I really hope everything goes well for you and your daughter and that what everyone says is true, that it will get better with time. all the best. Lisa . :)
