Hi Gail-I think I knew because she would have a sudden cry that would also suddenly stop. She was old enough to be asked "does it hurt to make peepees" and she said "yes". The Tylenol seemed to help. The first one was done to see what kind of surgery to do. That was by a surgeon we did not choose. The second one was done right before the corrective surgery, while under anasthesia already, to confirm the original report, since it was a different Dr. performing the surgery. The third one was unexpected and 2 years later, to cauterize a polyp in the vaginal canal that was causing bleeding. She hasn't had any further surgery and is now 11 and doing well. Hope this helps.
