re: deep voice
Feb. 22nd, 2008   9:29pm

2, this is a very common feature of women with CAH. I don't know of one CAH woman who doesn't have a deep or deepish voice.

Because this was such a sensitive point for me as I grew up I learned to speak very quietly and in fact not to speak much at all. It has taken me a long time to get over this.......

...However I've become a bit of a villain now! When I go to church and sing I don't timidly try to sing in my 'high' voice totally straining my vocal cords but I sing in the range which is comfortable to me which is very low, probably tenor or maybe even bass at times. At times I've seen people having a furtive look over their shoulder or across the row and probably thinking where's that voice coming from - there's just a tiny female there????LOL!!! ROFL!

I think the older I get the more I like to express my differences ( and there are plenty of those with CAH)  rather than trying to be like everyone else. How boring!

Thanks for raising this!

Megan
