Cerebral salt wasting?
Mar. 15th, 2008   10:07am

Hi- I am wondering if anyone has heard of this.  I was diagnosed a long time ago with late onset 3 beta HSD, but recently got genetic testing that didn't identify a mutation.  New research says that my adrenal issue stems from the ovaries (a form of PCOS?).  After stopping treatment for 3beta (.25 dex), I had 3 episodes over 5 years of adrenal insufficiency (not total shutdown/crisis, but enough to land me in the hospital).  I then was diagnosed with chronic Lyme Disease and while getting treatment for it, have had salt wasting (partch shock waking I call it) crises.  Only while sleeping, I am being woken up by severe acute bouts of dehydration (tingling/numbness in arms, legs and head), dry mouth, eye, throat.  Water helps.  Anyway I was just placed on hydrocortisone (5, 2.5, 2.5).  I am wondering if anyone would have any information on how I can get this (what I think is cerebral salt wasting) under control, so that I can take treatment for the Lyme.  Does anyone know of a doctor who might treat this in northern NJ or NYC?  Thanks so much-Tracy

Tracy
