re: Surgery (who would you use)
Mar. 16th, 2008   7:53pm

Amy-My daughter with SWCAH is now 11, and she had surgery at age 2.  We went to Dr. Ellen Shapiro at New York University Hospital.  She is head of pediatric urology there and we were referred by our first endocrinologist who trained with Phyllis Speiser, head of Endocrinology at LIJewish Hospital.  We were very pleased with her and the amount of time she dedicated to our daughter and us.  Our daughter had a flap vaginoplasty and clitoral reduction.  We are going to see her soon for a follow up since it was reccommended we follow up before menstruation begins.  I know this is a big decision-choosing a surgeon, but you seem right on top of things by asking questions and looking for support.  I hope everything works out for the best.
