Hi,

We live in Swansea NSW Australia and unfortunatly we dont have a school nurse i wish we did that would make things even more relaxed but we are very happy with how our school has dealt with it and i was worried that other kids would be asking my girls lots of questions but they dont, they wear medic alert bracelets, the medical plan we have consists of an A4 sheet of paper with thier photo on it and what condition they have and what to do if they are unwell the steps are simple and they laminate it and is posted in every classroom just so all the teachers are aware, all our classrooms have a medical board which has these plans on them, there are so many different conditions on the board - CAH, DIABETES, ANAPHALACTIC, ETC for the saftey of all these kids its the only way to cover all bases, our last principle didnt do this our new principle did shes been in our school for 2 years and has some great ideas its something she came up with and we really appreciate it.

Our school is Swansea Public school we have around 250 kids in the school and about 8 of them have a medical conditions that warrant this method, my daughters Alexandra is nearly 12yrs and Jamie-Lee who is 9yrs both have SWCAH so they both have a plan and its worked perfectly they understand the need to move quickly and calmly when the girls are unwell, I would love to see this system implimented in all schools.

Barbara
