re: re: Update and More Questions about Kindergarden Mar. 24th, 2008 12:52pm
Hi Sherry,
I remember when my daughter when to kindergarten too. SHe is now almost 9 (tomorrow is her birthday) and things have gotten a lot easier. After we registered for kindergarten the school nurse contacted me and we set up a meeting with her, my daughter's teachers, the school Health aide secretary (who gives my daughter her noon meds) and myself, before school started in the fall. At that meeting I gave them all the info I could on SWCAH. First, I typed out very specific instructions for her teachers like what to do in every situation (fever 99-101, 101-104, vomiting, diahrea, sprain, head injury, overheating, etc). I also gave them a copy of an explanation of what an adrenal crisis is, what it looks like and what to do about it. I always prefaced everything with call the parents before following any treatment. Since the school nurse is only at her school for a few days a week, I don't have school giving her the Solu-Cortef shot. They will call 911 and the paramedics will give her a shot of Solu-Medrol (they don't have solu-Cortef). I also have a letter written from her endo giving the right dosage of solu-medrol and other info.
