Carrier Testing
Mar. 25th, 2008   7:57am

I have CAH.  With the possibility of having children in the near future, I am concerned that my husband might be a carrier, increasing the risk of having a child with CAH.  I have read a little on the available tests to screen a non-affected individual to see if they are a carrier of the recessive gene, but can't find the information on the exact test that needs to be conducted.

Is it a simple blood test? A genetics test? Why type of doctor would conduct these tests? A specialist? A geneticist?

I am just taking precautions prior to having children and would like my husband tested first. Please advise if someone knows the details on the available testing.

Thanks.

NMG
