Dear Brad-
I take 7.5 mgs of prednisone and I was on 10 mgs about 20 years ago.
I do find that when I want to lose weight that I have to limit or avoid corn, bread, potatoes, and pasta. Alchohol too- sigh
I gained weight with the hydrocortisone but for me it's just that I can really put away food : ) I found that I have to watch portions .
But, I also have a thyroid condition that I believe affects weight.
One thing about the pred and this is just my opinion : ) is that it seems that I never feel full enough.
My blood work is great on the 7.5 of pred and really bad on the hydro/cortef.
I find with exercise that I can walk/jog three miles and will not lose weight but 5 miles will do the trick.
Also, I got a test a couple years ago from a trainer that showed I am heavier but some of that is more muscle than fat.
last, I find that exercise in sprints seems to increse the fat burning metabolism. I'm lucky that I get lots of exercise at my job if I choose and last night I would do this quarter mile sprint walk and then stop and walk then do the quarter mile sprint fast walk again. I've been loosing weight by doing this.
It all depends on what the Endo says and please don't take my post as medical advice.
Good Luck
